March 15, 2018, Portland, OR – Lost Plate Food Tours has launched their first guided walking tour in Portland Oregon. Guests get the opportunity to visit unique Portland neighborhoods to gain an understanding about the local food and beverage establishments that make this city such a unique culinary destination.

All food and alcoholic beverages are included during three hour tours that visit 5 different seated stops ranging from mom-and-pop restaurants to locally produced wine bars to craft breweries. Each tour has a maximum of 10 people to create a fun yet intimate experience while guests learn interesting stories about the neighborhood during short walks between each stop. Guests also get a chance to meet and interact with restaurateurs, wine makers and brewers while being served more than enough food to leave full and happy.

“Our goal is to introduce both locals and visitors to areas of Portland that they would not otherwise visit on their own,” says Michelle Bergey, founder and lead guide for Lost Plate’s tours in Portland. “We’ve chosen a variety of stops that really showcase what’s special about Portland’s food and drink scene. We really want people to walk away feeling like they had a truly local and authentic experience, happily full of food, beer and wine.”

What really sets Lost Plate apart is their tour schedule and their focus on small, off-the-beaten-path locations. Tours are offered at 6:30PM in the evening, making it the only food tour or activity in the city that can be enjoyed after a day of sightseeing or spent in the office. The tour which covers the Slabtown and Alphabet neighborhoods gets visitors away from downtown to experience what living in the city is really like.

As one guest mentioned during a soft-launch tour, “We’ve been living in the Portland area for 6 years and ate at places we’ve never been and learned a lot of interesting facts about the history of Portland and the neighborhood. You will not go away from this tour hungry. My belly still feels full!”

Lost Plate Food Tours was originally founded in China by Brian Bergey, a native Oregonian, and his Chinese wife Ruixi Hu. Since 2014 they have become the leading food tour outfit in China running tours in 4 of the country’s largest cities and welcoming over 6000 Western guests & travelers per year. Brian and his sister Michelle Bergey have now brought these experiences to their home state so guests closer to home can enjoy the tours they have created.
