Why Guests Choose Us:

Personally Designed Itineraries, Built Around Food.

Most multi-day tours squeeze in a generic lunch between sightseeing stops. Not us. Every Lost Plate trip is designed from scratch to highlight the best food and experiences a region has to offer. We’ve handpicked every meal and destination ourselves – not from a supplier catalog – so you’ll never feel like you’re on a cookie-cutter tour.

All-Inclusive, Worry-Free Travel.

Every activity, every meal, every detail: handled. You won’t need to think about logistics, tickets, or paying for the check. A recent guest told us: “You don’t have to worry about a thing – just sit back and enjoy the ride.” Oh, and did we mention we never take you anywhere you’re required to shop?!

Expertly Guided, Authentically Local.

Our trips are led by a passionate team of local guides who do more than show you around – they take care of every detail and share their world with you. Our guests say it best: “Our guide was absolutely fantastic…she taught us so much about the history, food, and culture of the area.”

Comfortable Stays, Local Charm.

We choose modern hotels and boutique guesthouses that offer comfort and highlight local touches to help you unwind after a day of exploring. As one guest put it, “The guesthouses at each location were fantastic…trust that Lost Plate knows what visitors appreciate.”

Small Groups, Big Experiences.

Share meals, stories, and laughs with a tight-knit group that often feels like old friends by day two. As one guest put it, “I went on this trip alone…but our group of strangers soon became friends thanks to the care and detail put into every moment.” It’s the perfect mix of shared experiences and space to do your own thing.

We generally recommend join-in trips for children aged 8+. With that said, we ask parents to use their own judgement to determine whether the itinerary is appropriate for their children without impacting the experience of other guests. Our Shangrila and Ningxia itineraries include multiple wine-tasting stops and are recommended for people of drinking age.

Due to the limited capacity on our join-in trips, discounts are not generally provided for children. This is always determined on a case-by-case basis and depends on the size of your family, the ages of your children, and how many hotel rooms you will require.

Booking a private trip for your family is always an option, based on availability. This allows you some added flexibility during the itinerary to make sure nothing starts too early/late and so you have time to rest when needed.

Travelers with children should always contact us before booking so we can provide detailed prices for you.

We welcome all travelers, but ask that guests use their own judgement to determine whether the itinerary is appropriate without impacting the experience of other guests. We do not recommend our trips to anyone who is unable to be on their feet for 2-3 hours at a time, or requires mobility assistance such as a wheelchair or walker.

Booking a private trip is always an option. This gives you some added flexibility during the itinerary to make sure you have extra time when needed during the day.

If you know anything about Lost Plate, you know that you’ll never go hungry! All meals are included during our trips. You can expect simple yet hearty breakfasts, plus lunches and dinners that offer a huge variety of dishes in large quantities. We often visit family-owned restaurants that specialize in one type of cuisine or dish. Our goal is to make food the highlight of your trip!

Meals include local beer, soft drinks, and bottled water.

We do our best to accommodate as many dietary requests as possible, but some trips do have limitations. Please check the specific trip page that you are interested in and check out its FAQ section for those details.

For vegan travelers, we offer vegan-only trips in Cambodia. Click here for more information.

We’ve provided an “Activity Level” rating for each trip, using a scale of 1 (relaxed) to 3 (adventurous). Please see each trip page for specific details regarding the physical fitness required.

In general, strenuous activities are optional, but all guests should be able to be on your feet for 2-3 hours at a time while visiting destinations. Some trips will require hotel changes and long car rides. Detailed itineraries are available on each trip page.

We ask all travelers to independently apply for their tourist visa. We typically are not arranging your entire trip, so this gives you flexibility on the dates and duration for your visa application. We are able to provide documents such as your trip itinerary and hotel confirmations to aid with your visa application. The price of obtaining this visa is not included in the tour price.

Visa policies change often and vary by nationality. You should do your own research to understand if your nationality will require a visa, and what the process and timeline is for your nationality.
