Portland is a true beer city with no shortage of breweries, tap houses, and beer gardens. In fact, Portland consistently falls in the top 10 cities in the US with the most craft breweries per capita!  Here’s our list of the best breweries in Portland to have a pint, grab a growler to go, and eat some delicious food. Cascade Brewing Barrel House

Barrel fermented sour beers are the name of the game at this unique brewery. Cascade has been servings sours since 2006 and basically invented the NW Sour Ale. All the sours poured are imaginative, barrel-aged, and purely local. We suggest trying several 2oz pours at their barrel room and seeing what you like best! Location and details here

Breakside Brewing

Some of the best beer in the city is being brewed over at Breakside Brewing. With multiple locations to choose from, each serves almost too many beers to choose from, all of them being absolutely crisp and delicious. Whether you’re into IPAs, pilsners, or something unique, Breakside has something for you. Locations and details here

Baerlic Brewing

Bearlic Brewery is a small-scale brewery with a couple taprooms throughout Portland. They focus on working in close proximity with their ingredients, materials, vendors, supplies, and suppliers. Which means their brews are not only delicious, but something to feel good about. You’ll only find their beer here in Portland, so make sure to swing by and have a pint. Mt. Hood Brewing

You don’t have to drive an hour Mount Hood to try this brewery’s beer anymore! With a location in Portland, you can enjoy sips of Mt. Hood Brewery beer and cider inside a train car. Yep, that’s right! You can sit inside an actual Oregon train car and caboose, grab a lager, order a wood-fired pizza, and enjoy the train! Location and details here

Wayfinder Beer

Wayfinder not only taps delicious beer, but they do so in an awesome industrial space. The brewery uses old school brewing techniques paired with new science to create truly unique lagers and more. If you visit, you’ll be able to drink a lager on a comfortably heated elevated deck while eating delicious food. Location and details here.

Portland u-Brew and Unicorn Brewing

This place has a great selection of beer, cider and wine-making supplies, plus the friendliest staff in town. The taproom has several beers on tap plus snacks. But we suggest signing up for a brewing session with an experience brewer to make your own personal beer brew. Do it, for science. Location and details here

Lucky Lab Brewing

With several locations to choose from and multiple taps at each one, you’ll be sure to find something you like here! Come relax in a European beer hall type setting, with high-trussed ceilings, trademark rustic ambiance, and a great covered patio for you and (you guessed it) your canine. Locations and details here.

Ecliptic Brewing

If you’re in the Mississippi neighborhood, this brewery is a must to check out. Not only is their beer absolutely outstanding, their food is top notch as well. All beer is celestial named and the space is out of this world. (Get it?!) Ticks all our boxes, and comes with an excellent patio too. Location and details here.

Backwoods Brewing

Backwoods Brewing Company hails from the small town of Carson, Washington, but Portlanders are lucky enough to have a Backwoods taproom in the heart of the Pearl District. Backwoods specializes in brewing craft beers from the best ingredients found in the Northwest, and the food menu at the taproom is not to be missed. Location and details here.

Steeplejack Brewing Co.

This might just be the most unique brewery space in the whole city! Steeplejack Brewery is housed in a restored church from the 1900s, complete with stained glass windows and a beautiful steeple. But they don’t just make delicious beers, the space also serves up a great menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Steeplejack has quickly grown to include more than one location, but the original spot can be found on Broadway Street in NE Portland. More info and details here.

Great Notion

This Portland brewery is known for having some of the most unique beer flavors in the city. “Keep beer fun” is their slogan after all. So if you’ve ever wanted to try a sour beer that tastes like a blueberry muffin, a maple syrup tasting stout, or a hazy slushy beer, then Great Notion is the brewery for you!
