We don’t offer the typical “sleep on the bus, snap a photo, then go straight to the hotel” kind of itineraries. With Lost Plate, you’ll be leading guests deep into local neighborhoods and villages to uncover the best food and experiences each region offers, all through itineraries we design ourselves and constantly refine through guest feedback. From start to finish, you’re the Lost Plate Trip Leader making those “wow, I didn’t expect this!” moments happen again and again (and believe us, they happen a lot).

• Your friends know you as a highly social person who loves to interact with people of different personalities and backgrounds.
• Are a natural, high-spirited storyteller with an outgoing personality, never a dull pause, and a plethora of “ah-ha” moments.
• Your passion is food and regional fun-facts which make you an interesting and captivating person to spend a week with. You possess a high level of knowledge about local cuisine and craft beverages like beer and wine – and can’t wait to share it with people every day.
• Have a strong ability to think on your feet, make decisions on your own that will impact others, read your audience, and make real-time adjustments based on their preferences.
• Are a hard core planner, and communicate those plans impeccably clear with others, to ensure a smooth and seamless experience.
• Believe customers always come first and are willing to go the extra mile to make sure every guest is happy – as simple or complicated as it may be.

REQUIREMENTS

• You are bilingual in Chinese and English, both speaking and reading/writing.
• You are a local expert based in either Yunnan, Beijing, Chengdu, or Ningxia.
• You have a minimum of 2 years experience leading foreign multi-day trips in English in the city you’re based in.
• Having a guide license is preferred.
• You’re able to lead multiple trips per month ranging from 3-8 days, often during weekends and public holidays.
• You’re physically fit and can take long hours of walking. Expect your day to start as early as 7.30am on some days, and end at 8pm or later after dinner ends.
• Bonus: Good photography skills
