Most people think that Angkor, the world’s largest pre-industrial city, has only left behind ruins hidden by overgrown jungle.
But if you look close enough, the descendants of this empire keep myth and magic alive through food, drink, and their relationship with the natural world around them.
We tell the story behind each dish and visit authentic, family-run restaurants all while sipping a cold beer and taking in the local Cambodian life.

By sharing the living history of cuisine by the hands that make it, we're changing the way people think about food and its role in the universe.
Only guides from each city can give you a true taste of the area in food and culture, all trained by our founders to ensure a perfect experience.
We also work with the community through local producers and partners to ensure you’re getting a real local taste of what each community can do.
We are not a tasting tour! If you leave hungry or thirsty, we aren’t doing our jobs. Most of our tours feature unlimited food and drinks (beer too)! Everything we eat is tried and tested, plus you’ll see how its made and learn about the families who make it.
The best part? You won’t have to worry about what to order or how to communicate with the owners at each stop, especially if you have allergies or dietary restrictions.
The local culinary scene in every city is defined by food and drinks, so we make sure you experience it all! Our evening tours include unlimited local beer along the way, and at least one stop to sink a glass (or few) of locally produced craft beer or cocktails. Our morning tours provide fresh juice and local coffee.
We visit local neighborhoods where real locals live and eat. You aren’t going to find any other tourists here, or run into other tour groups. Our restaurants are local legends, family-owned and often specializing in only one dish, which means the quality is high and the flavor is even better. These places wouldn’t survive without regulars, that’s how you know it’s good.
A third of our customers were referred by a previous guest. Were you one of them?!
“We used this Lost Plate twice, first for the Evening Tour and then for the Morning Tour. Our guide was Neara and I have to say she is one of the kindest people I have ever met in my life, and probably one of the people who left the biggest impression on my stay in Cambodia. She had a special connection with the families and merchants we met, so in addition to learning more about the local food, we also got to know the lives of some of the people we dined with, which gave an incredibly authentic touch to our stay. Don’t eat anything before the tour because you will really eat a lot! This is an experience that I recommend to everyone visiting Cambodia and Phnom Penh.

“I decided to do this tour for my birthday while in Phnom Penh and what a great decision it was. I can’t say enough just how hospitable my tour guide Neara and tuk tuk driver were. I’ve heard Cambodia is lovely and the people are some of the most hospitable but this surpassed expectation. Neara is very knowledgeable and so kind to her community. She stopped by and greeted everyone along the way and ensured every vendor was taken care of. Every single meal on the tour was just so good. So happy to have spent my birthday doing this and with your team. Lovely experience.”

“From start to finish, this food tour was amazing. Our guide Neara was bubbly and personable. She had a good knowledge of all the foods and ingredients we tried. The variety of foods and different restaurants allowed us to try a range of Cambodian food in different styles. Would highly recommend anyone to take this tour.”

“Our food tour with our wonderful guide, Neara, was a very special experience. We visited four local family-owned restaurants, each serving a different style of Cambodian food, including barbecues and curries, all truly delicious. Neara gave us the background of the area we were in, the style of food and history of the restaurant. After dessert from a popular street stall, we finished with a cocktail at a student haunt. Seeing Phnom Penh by night from the Tuk Tuk was also a great experience. I highly recommend the tour, but there is so much delicious and interesting food, I also suggest you pace yourself!”

“Such a wonderful tour. Yes the food was amazing but more importantly we felt like we were really seeing how local Cambodian families eat. The guide was friendly and knowledgeable and made the evening truly memorable. The tour included a number of restaurants serving local dishes like Amok and meat skewers. There was so much food we didn’t finish what we were served at any of the 6 stops. The highlight of the tour was driving out to a nearby fishing village. We ate a wonderful meal in a family home. The food was delicious and the people were so kind and generous. They showed us the different traps they use to catch fish in the rivers and how they make them. The final stop was a local cocktail bar which was an amazing way to end the night.”

“Siem Reap was the third Lost Plate trip that I have been on and it didn’t disappoint. We had a lovely guide who gave us lots of really interesting information about the food as well as loads of local information. Like the other tours, there were five destinations which were all very different. The highlight had to be the tuk tuk ride into the countryside where we stopped to watch the sun go down over the paddy fields. It was a great experience going into a local a villager’s home and having a home made fish dish as well as some accompanying dishes. The guy also spoke English well so he was able to answer our questions. As per usual with Lost Plate, we ended up at a local ‘watering hole’ which was a lovely way to end a thoroughly enjoyable evening.”

“Don’t eat at all that day if you want to have room for everything that is offered! Starting in town at an original, authentic Cambodian restaurant, we discovered exactly what it is that makes their cuisine different from their bordering neighbors much more familiar fare. Chum was an excellent host and it was fun to be whisked around in tuktuks to rice fields and a village where we were welcomed into a lovely family’s home and served yet another delicious meal.”

“Every detail was amazing! I felt like I was on an episode of Anthony Bourdain or something. The tuktuk driver was the best, quick with a cold towel, and even a cold beer or water to enjoy on the tuktuk ride between stops, and the people we got to meet were super friendly and ready to share their culture and cuisine. Truly an immersive, “legit” experience. This is a must-do tour!”

“Neara was our guide and she was absolutely brilliant! She picked me up from my hotel on my first day in Phnom Penh in a tuktuk and took us to hidden gems all around the city, tasting so many different dishes. I’m glad I heeded advice in reviews I had read and didn’t have breakfast. the food was delicious and Neara is clearly incredibly passionate about Cambodian food. We went to places that I never would have found (let alone tried) if I wasn’t on this tour. Highly recommended to anyone visiting Phnom Penh.”

“I’m so glad I did this tour. It’s an extraordinary food experience. I had completely underestimated the culinary scene in Phnom Penh before taking this tour. Vichea was such a delight, very kind and enthusiastic. The entire group really enjoyed his company for the evening. The food was absolutely delicious, and pushed us a little bit out of our comfort zone. Clearly a lot of thought has been put into the stops on this tour. I would 100% recommend this be on every Phnom Penh itinerary.”
