Lost Plate Launches Beijing Food Tours

China’s top-rated food tours are now available in Beijing! For two years, Lost Plate has taken guests on culinary adventures in both Xian and Chengdu. They have their own tuktuks that zoom through the narrow streets and alleys of the city to get tourists off the beaten path and eat where the locals eat.

Ruixi Hu, Lost Plate’s Founder and Lead Guide, was always being asked when her tours would be available in more cities and Beijing was the next obvious destination. “We wanted to get away from traditional walking tours that really limit where people can go,” she mentioned about her tours. “Our tuktuks allow us to get deep into Beijing’s hutongs to the real places where locals eat!”

Lost Plate offers unlimited beer and soda from coolers in each tuktuk during the ride, and guarantees you’ll try the best local food Beijing has to offer. Their stops include do-it-yourself traditional Beijing BBQ, the best fried beef “dumpling” you’ll ever have, and a visit to a local family’s hutong house to try their homemade noodles. The tour ends at a local brewery to try a pint of Beijing’s craft brew.

While their tours always focus on food and drink, you’ll also see a large part of Beijing’s historic center and learn about its history. “The interesting part about China is that everything has an ancient story, so we let our guests know how the food started and how it has shaped the local culture. Part of that is letting guests know about the area they are in and letting them see it for themselves,” Ruixi said.

Ruixi is proud about hiring local guides and drivers to support the local community. Only guides from each city can give you a real taste of the area, both in its food and its culture. “We want our guests to feel like they are ending the day with a new friend, not just a typical tour guide,” she said. “Service is really important to us and we want to make sure we do everything possible to make their entire trip to China memorable.”

Lost Plate’s Beijing Food Tours are available all year long and discounts are available if you join 2 or more of their tours around China!
