How much food will I get?

Evening and Food Cart Tour: Our tours include several different food establishments. You will eat more than a regular meal, enough to make you leave full and happy. Please come hungry!
Morning Tour: The focus of this tour is learning about coffee and sampling the donut trend in Portland. Most people feel full after this tour, yet some may want to grab a light lunch afterward.


What type of food will I get on the tour?

Evening tour: Part of the fun is the element of surprise! All we’ll say is that you’ll enjoy a variety of tasty dishes that are special to our local neighborhoods and focus on what makes Portland such a great place to eat. There’s definitely something for everyone.
Morning tour: Freshly made donuts and treats served throughout the tour.
Food Cart Tour: Portland Food Carts are known for their diverse and delicious cuisine. You’ll sample dishes from around the world, both new and familiar, and sure to satisfy. There’s definitely something for everyone!


What if I’m vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, or have food allergies?

All of our tour descriptions include details about special diets so please take a look at the specific tour you are interested in.
Evening Tour: We are happy to welcome vegetarians and pescatarians, but please let us know prior to your tour date. We do not recommend gluten-free individuals, picky eaters, Kosher diets, or other special diets to join our tour. Unfortunately we cannot accommodate vegan diets or severe food allergies at this time. You must notify us of any special request prior to your tour date, same day requests cannot be guaranteed.
Morning tour: Because of the unique and limited nature of this tour, if your diet does not allow coffee or donuts, this tour is not for you as there are no substitutions. Please note all donut shops use ingredients containing gluten, soy, and dairy.
Food Cart Tour: We can welcome vegetarians or pescatarians, but most other requests are limited. Due to the diverse nature of food carts visited, this tour is not recommended for gluten free, dairy free, vegan diets, or severe allergies. You must notify us of any special request prior to your tour date, same day requests cannot be guaranteed.


Are alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks provided?

Evening tour: Both food and beverages are essential to the local culinary scene. We provide alcoholic beverages during the tour which will give you a great opportunity to taste local beers, wines, spirits, and cocktails. If you prefer not to drink alcohol, non-alcoholic options will be provided at each stop. Since we have limited spots on each tour, the tour price is the same for all guests regardless of their beverage preference.
Morning tour: This tour does not include any alcoholic beverages, but does include a lot of coffee! We do not recommend this tour for caffeine-free individuals, but if that is your preference, please let us know prior to your tour date and note there may not be direct substitutes.
Food Cart Tour: We do visit a local brewery on this tour, but please let us know if you prefer something non-alcoholic and we will provide you a non-alcoholic beverage. There are plenty of other non-alcoholic beverages served on this tour.


What is your cancellation policy?

Bookings cancelled 2 days (48 hours) or more before your tour are fully refundable (100% refund). Bookings cancelled within 48 hours notice are not refundable. Cancellations must be communicated by email to pdx@lostplate.com and/or by phone. If you would like to reschedule your tour with less than 48 hours notice, we will need to charge 50% of your total since we are unable to fill your spots at short notice.


Do you offer discounts?

We sure do! If you decide to do more than one tour with us we are happy to offer you a 10% discount off your total amount. It doesn’t matter if the tour is in the same city or a different city, we want to keep feeding you as long as you let us. Our online booking system will automatically deduct the discount from your total if booking online. If you decide to add more tours later, your original confirmation email will include a promo code to use on those bookings.


Where does the tour start?

Exact meeting locations and directions will be included in your confirmation email immediately after booking.
Evening tour: Starts conveniently in the heart of Northwest Downtown Portland. On-street 4 hour parking is readily available, public transportation is nearby, or grab a Lyft/Uber ride.
Morning tour: Starts in the heart of downtown. We highly recommend coming by rideshare, public transportation, or by foot. The start and end locations are only a few blocks away from the major transportation center Downtown. Street parking can be very limited downtown and is typically valid for less than 2 hours.
Food Cart Tour: Starts conveniently in the heart of the Central Eastside neighborhood. We recommend coming by rideshare, public transportation, or by foot, however, there is limited paid and free street parking nearby.


How many people will be in my group?

Our minimum is 2 and maximum is 10. The bottom line is…you won’t be crammed in a tour bus or van. You’re going to meet awesome people, make new friends, and have fun!


How long do the tours last?

Our tours last around 2.5-3.5 hours. Just let us know if you are worried about time and we’ll be happy to make any necessary adjustments.


Will I need to walk very far?

Each tour description on our website states how far you will need to walk. Our tours are designed to introduce as much food, drinks and fun as possible without straying too far.
Evening tour: You will walk a total of about 1.5 miles, with many seated stops throughout the tour. With that said, we will keep a moderate pace. Strollers and wheelchairs are not recommended. Waterproof shoes are.
Morning tour: You will walk around 1 mile total. Not all stops are seated and you will stand for much of this tour. Please note the tour ends approx. 1 mile from the starting location.
Food Cart Tour: You will walk around 1 mile total. Most stops are seated and covered, but we may stand at some stops. Please note the tour ends approx. 1 mile from the starting location.


I’m a local Portlander, will your tours be fun for me?

Of course, we explore off the beaten path places you may not have tried yet. After our tour, you can impress your friends with all kinds of fun facts about Portland and the neighborhood.


What happens if it rains or snows?

The sky gets cloudy but business goes on as usual. We suggest you dress for the weather, all of our tours are rain-or-shine…and it rains a lot in Portland. In periods of extreme or unsafe weather, we will cancel the tour at our discretion and provide a refund.


What do I need to bring?

Yourself, your valid ID and an appetite (and probably an umbrella just in case), everything else is covered!


What shouldn’t I bring?

We strongly recommend that you do not bring strollers, wheelchairs or large bags. These are walking tours and our restaurant stops are in small places without a lot of extra space.


Can I bring my pet?

While we would love to meet your furry friend, unfortunately pets are not allowed on our tours or inside the establishments for health and safety reasons.


Can I bring my child?

We suggest you leave the kids at home as some establishments may be 21+, and we walk and talk a lot. With that said, children 3 and under are free and everyone else pays the same price. We have a limited capacity so we appreciate your understanding.


Do you offer private tours?

Yes! Any public tour can be offered as a private tour. Please contact us at pdx@lostplate.com for private tour details, prices, and to find a day and time that works for you and your group!


Do you sell gift certificates?

Yes! Giving someone a Lost Plate experience is something that your special someone will never forget. Our gift certificates have zero restrictions and they never expire. You’ll also receive a coupon for a discount on your next Lost Plate Food Tour booking.


Will I need to sign a waiver

Everyone who books with us is required to agree to a waiver for you and your entire party for liability reasons. You can find our waiver here.
