Literally translating to “white spirits,” baijiu is a broad class of clear Chinese spirits that generally run between 40-80% in alcohol content. Despite the 9000-year-old tradition of baijiu that may be older than writing- it’s not well known outside of China, where locals drink more baijiu annually than the rest of the world drinks vodka, whiskey, tequila, rum, and gin combined. It’s usually drunk neat, room temperature, in small glasses with food and frequent cheering, but it’s starting to pop up more in the cool cocktail bars of China’s cities.

In our box, we’ve selected a storied baijiu from the Luzhou Laojiao Distillery from Sichuan Province, which spans 20 generations of tradition, using a process of continuous fermentation from the world’s oldest grain pits, that has been continuously operating since 1573. The maturity of these pits results in a complexity of flavor only time and technique can bring to a cocktail. Hundreds of years in the making, all culminating in the delicious cocktails we’re now delivering to your doorstep.

We’ve also included showcase Sichuanese spices, cocktail ingredients from Portland OR’s craft scene, a measuring jigger, and a cocktail tasting journal from Portland’s 33 Book’s Co. so you can get the most out of the experience. From the other side of the bar, you’ll see what bitters, syrups, and fizz can do to a drink, and play with all the dimensionality fine baijiu has to offer.

Due to laws regarding the shipment of alcohol, you will receive 2 separate shipments and they will arrive at different times. The bottle of Baijiu is shipped on its own, and the cocktail kit with ingredients and barware is shipped separately by Lost Plate. An in-person signature is required for your Baijiu bottle shipment. You will receive tracking info, but please keep this in mind if you are sending it as a gift. You can also send it to a business/office address as most deliveries happen on weekdays. The shipping address must be a physical address, we cannot deliver to a PO Box. Due to state laws and regulations, we are unable to sell and ship the box to addresses in Louisiana, Mississippi, Massachusetts, Ohio, Alaska, and Hawaii.
